CARCINOMA OF THE ESOPHAGUS
Tumors of the esophagus are usually malignant squamous cell carcinomas; less than 10 per cent are benign (most frequently leiomyomas). Adeno carcinomas account for about 5 per cent; all other malignant lesions are exceedingly rare.
